After ten successful years at their Woodland Hills
location, Takashi and his wife Deko were looking for a second location in
2004. Some of their Woodland Hills customers that lived in Newbury Park
suggested their hometown – and the rest is history. The
Newbury Park location offers the same California Italian cuisine menu that
was developed and refined over the years in Woodland Hills.
The extensive menu is predominantly Italian
– however a number of non-Italian dishes have been developed over the years
and have become favorites. As an added
service to the community, delivery is available in Newbury Park.
The casual California Italian dishes you find at
Italian Café
Topanga are characterized by their outstanding taste and moderate prices –
making this a value restaurant. There is
something for everyone on the extensive menu that you can review by clicking
on the "menu" link above.
The "calamari fritti" appetizer and the "Topanga
Chinese chicken" salad are excellent choices for starting your meal.
The chicken stock, prepared daily from scratch, is the
ingredient that gives the homemade pasta sauces their distinctive and very
tasty Italian Café Topanga flavor. The pasta is
cooked to perfection, or "aldente" as Italians would put it – it is never
too soft or too hard, just simply perfect. Among
the pastas the "linguini sausage pasta with marina sauce "and the
"fettuccini pasta with mushroom cream sauce" are favorites.
You can choose between meat sauce or
vegetarian lasagna and there is also a vegetarian pizza. In
addition to several traditional Italian veal dishes there are also several
house-specialty fish dishes, including the very popular "seafood nicoise
salad". Among the wide selection of hot and
cold sandwiches the "chicken parmigiana" and "lemon herb chicken" are
popular hot sandwiches, while the classic Italian sub leads among the cold
sandwiches. The pizza selections include
traditional and Italian Café Topanga special combinations – both available in thin
or thick crust. There are also California
pizzas which do not use tomato sauce and come with unusual toppings such as
spicy chicken, shrimp, or caramelized onions. A
variety of desserts are offered that include creame brulee made with fresh
vanilla and fresh apple tart ala mode.
The restaurant has a casual, at-home feeling to it and
you can sit at either tables or booths. Ample
parking is available immediately in front of the restaurant.
